kristaduncanKrista Duncan

Krista started off as a competitive gymnast but when she took her first dance class at the age of 13 she knew this was where she belonged. She started training more seriously and upon graduating high school, she made the move to the big city to attend George Brown College’s dance program, where she broaden her knowledge in jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical/contemporary, modern, acrobatics and hip-hop.
In Krista’s first year in college she started cheerleading for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. She got the opportunity to perform at the 2008 Grey Cup and Casino Rama’s Superbowl party. Upon graduating she joined some fellow dancers in creating, choreographing and performing a full length dance show with Figure 7 called I’m Leaving. It was a great success and experience.
She has had the amazing opportunities to perform at the Canadian Children’s Aid Foundation Gala, The Chocolate Ball Fundraiser and Hennessy’s Black Seduction promotional party.
Recently Krista has worked with Much Music choreographing and dancing in the Doritos “Name the flavour” award show and Shawn Desman’s “Night Like This” music video. She is also very excited to be dancing with the Toronto Marlies dance pak this season.
Krista is thrilled to be a part of LR Productions and work with the amazing talent the company has to offer.

Lindsay Ritter Dance - Newsletter: Volume 1

September 13, 2010

Welcome dancers, friends, family and supporters of the Lindsay Ritter Dance Community!

I am pleased to announce our first official LR Dance Newsletter!

This will be the first of many newsletters which will provide you with up-to-date info on classes, workshops, shows, auditions and much more! LR Dance will also feature a dancer who exemplifies what it is to be passionate with his/her art and represent LR Dance in a positive way. Check out the ‘Spotlight Dancer’ section in this and upcoming newsletters.

We hope you had a great summer and are getting back into the swing of things now that fall and winter are among us.

LR Dance is now in our 3rd season. It’s amazing how quickly the years have flown by and how much we’ve grown. I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished and look forward to what the future has in store!

I want to start things off by introducing the amazing LR Dance Staff!

Lindsay Ritter – Director: LR Dance

For those of you who don’t know me…I’m the face behind and in front of LR Dance! I started this company 3 years ago in 2007 with the goal to involve dancers in a positive community. I wanted to bring the style ‘Commercial Jazz’ to the forefront as I knew it wasn’t a style that was taught at a professional level in the Toronto Dance scene. Now, LR Dance is Toronto’s first to offer Commercial Jazz classes, workshops and production shows! We currently have over 40 LR Production dancers who have performed for industry events, corporate events and fundraisers. Having travelled across North America and abroad teaching Commercial Jazz workshops for conventions and schools, I have also brought in over 20 master choreographers for our popular ‘One Night Only’ workshops here in Toronto. My 6 year background in marketing has definitely helped to grow and build my business, and I take pride in networking and optimizing my brand on the World Wide Web! As most of you know, my husband Cliff and I are expecting our first child in January and I’m very excited to become a mommy and have my child be a part of LR Dance!

Natalie and Leah Hashimoto – Administration

Both of these beautiful ladies that most of you know as the ‘TWINNIES’ have been with me since the very beginning. Without their organization, creativity and expert office skills I wouldn’t even know what to do with all the paperwork and behind the scenes work that goes with running this business. Natalie and Leah are usually the ones who sign you in and out during my classes on Thursday night, but they have also performed with LR Productions in numerous shows and events in Toronto! Check out the twins in upcoming shows this fall!

Natasha Taylor – Teacher/Choreographer Beginner Commercial Jazz

Natasha has been dancing with me since 2008 and has always impressed me with her talent, charisma and passion. In our second year we decided to start our first Beginner Commercial Jazz class which is now a huge hit attracting more than two dozen students a class thanks to Natasha for giving it her all. In January, we will be celebrating the Beginner Commercial Jazz class 1 year anniversary! Natasha has also dipped into some choreography for our LR Production shows and has done a wonderful job putting her own style and flair into the routines! I’m very excited to see her continue to grow within the company!

Marta Sobiesiak – Teacher/Choreographer Intermediate Contemporary/Lyrical Jazz

Marta has been dancing with me over the past 2 years and has always had a great attitude and passion. Marta has a talent for choreography and I just knew I needed to put together a class that would complement what I do but would also bring a new flavor to the company. We created a brand new class for Intermediate dancers called: Contemporary/Lyrical Jazz which began nearly 6 months ago and has grown so quickly! Marta has a way of expressing the movements with the music and brings excitement to her classes. She has also choreographed routines for LR Production shows and will be bringing her own style to a huge upcoming production this fall!

Kate Campbell

Kate has performed with LR Productions over the past year and has been a positive role-model at rehearsals and classes. I have seen Kate grow into a confident, passionate dancer who is not only technically perfect, she brings something real to her performances. Kate comes to class regularly and has always been a strong, silent type who works extremely hard. Not only has she become a staple within the company, she has built her own aerial contortion company: Cirque Fusion. We look forward to seeing Kate grow in all of her future endeavors as I know she is destined for huge success!
