Spotlight Dancer:

Hillary McCarrel

Hillary McCarrel was one of my very first students way back almost 4 years ago. She has been taking classes with us, and performed for numerous LR Productions events. Hillary is a positive, energetic role-model not only in our dance community, but in every day life. She always has a smile on her face, is dedicated, committed, and brings energy and spunk wherever she goes! We missed Hillary when she took a year off to travel and then headed back to her hometown out west. I remember the day she surprised us all and just walked back into dance class as if she’d never left. We were so glad she moved back to Toronto and we’re not letting her get away so easily again! Check out Hillary in our upcoming production entitled, “Shades of the Heart” at Dance Ontario Weekend 2011. Hillary proves to us all that good things come in small packages! ;-)

Top 10 Favourite Poll Comments:

As most of you know I love to ask questions on my Facebook Fan Page! It’s always exciting to see what you all have to say…so I thought it would be fun to share some of these with you!!

Here is my Top 10:

10. Is there an age limit for a career as a dancer?

Never. No age limit ever! Dancers will dance or teach or whatever until last breath!

9. Why do people say “break a leg” before a dancer goes on stage?

I really have no idea i ask them not to because with my luck i would break a leg! lol

8. New sweatpants and t-shirts coming in 2011! What colours should we get?

Grey!

7. What are some good tips to improving the flexibility in your feet?

Therabands

6. If you could do one thing better in the dance studio…it would be to…?

Improve my turns

5. You know you’re a dancer when….

You spontaneously start to dance while walking down a busy street and don’t care if everyone thinks you’re a crazy person :)

4. Would you rather dance to Ke$ha, Lady Gaga or Britney?

Drunk dancing - Ke$ha, bathroom dancing - Britney, actual dancing - Gaga

3. Fill in the blanks: I DANCE because_______. I will only stop dancing when______

I dance because it’s in my soul and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I will only stop dancing when my mind and body can’t do it anymore.

2. How do you feel after you take a dance class?

Inspired

1. Are dancers athletes?

Most Definitely!!!!! The discipline of an athlete, the soul of a poet with the abandon of spirit incarnate makes up part of a true dancer. ;)

BABY TIME!

Last but not least, my husband Cliff and I are expecting our first child on January 15, 2011. We hope this new addition to our family will bring even more love and passion to the LR Dance Community!

Baby Guessing Poll: I have all the results from the Baby Guessing Poll we did last month and once the baby is born I will announce the winner who will receive a pair of LR Dance Sweatpants!

Thank you all for reading our 2nd official LR Dance Newsletter! We hope you found it useful, informative and fun! If you have any further questions about our services please contact: me@lindsayritter.com
