Erika Tucker
Erika has over eighteen years of dance training and performance experience. She has studied R.A.D. and Vaganova ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, musical theatre, pointe, pas de deux and ballroom. Erika has competed throughout North America, winning multiple awards and scholarships. After completing a month-long summer program, she was accepted to Toronto’s prestigious National Ballet School of Canada, but declined to pursue a career encompassing diverse dance genres.
Erika has trained in Québec at Ballet Divertimento and Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal, and in Toronto at Metro Movement, O.I.P., and City Dance Corps. She has studied under Blake McGrath, Robin Antin, Danny Davalos, Stephen Findlay, Stelio Calagias and Petter Toth-Horgosi. She recently performed with Carla Catherwood’s Nuvo-Burlesque troupe in Alice in Wonderland.
Erika has earned featured dance roles in Clarkson Music Theatres Thoroughly Modern Millie and Etobicoke Musical Productions’ Hello Dolly and The Producers. She was a CFL cheerleader for the Hamilton TigerCats, performing at all home games and representing the TigerCats at promotions and events. The season highlight was dancing for an audience of over 65,000 at the 2008 Grey Cup, and sharing the experience in her blog on cbcsports.ca. Erika currently belongs to The Dance Company and has performed in corporate and charity events such as the Teddy Bear Affair Gala.
Most recently, Erika traveled to Norway to teach a ten-month contract at the Ørsta Volda Ballet School, where she directed the jazz and hip hop program for students ages 7 to adult. This experience allowed her to choreograph, design and stage the original production Dance Into Love. She was also fortunate to attend a street dance workshop with Danish performance artist Eva Schou and has since choreographed two flash mobs as well as routines for Tammy Frederick’s Lights of Broadway musical theatre cabaret.
Erika is extremely excited to be part of Lindsay Ritter’s talented roster and looks forward to the creative growth and innovative performances ahead.
